For those that know me, know my favorite thing to make for dinner is reservations! So when I have the opportunity to explore a new restaurant I’m IN! I recently had the pleasure of attending a Chef’s tasting at Madonia Restaurant & Bar which is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant in Stamford, CT. Not only is it a restaurant and bar but also an event venue as well. The menu features seasonal land and sea plates that give you a feel of France, Italy, and Spain. Madonia Restaurant & Bar serves exceptional food. They pride themselves in their genuine hospitality which provides an even better dining experience.
I was pleased to know that I can add this restaurant to my local options for both date night and or family dinners with the kids. The space includes a bright and open main dining room, spacious banquette room, private wine room, a cozy bar & lounge area, and a beautiful seasonal patio for when the weather warms up. They also have a large complimentary parking lot right outside the restaurant, which is always great for traveling with kids, hassle free.
One of my favorite plates was their Gnocchi with shaved asparagus & peas in a Mint-Zucchini Pesto. It was so fresh and not overly heavy. The asparagus and peas gave it such a fun twist to the traditional pesto sauce. This dish not only made my belly happy but my heart as well. It brought back happy memories to my childhood when I would watch my ‘Nonna’ hand roll fresh gnocchi every Sunday for dinner. Hands down same great quality as Nonna’s homemade!
A few other favorites amongst our table was the Eggplant Rollatini, Alaskan Salmon and their New York Strip Steak. The Eggplant Rollatini had the usual Ricotta but what made this dish special was their thinly sliced prosciutto rolled within and flavored with a delicious Rosé sauce. I’ve had a lot of eggplant rollatini growing up Italian but this dish definitely stood out to me! The Alaskan Salmon melted in your mouth and was so flavorful with it’s honey-herb verjus. Such a lovely twist to your typical lemon juice while creating such a sophisticated flavor.
